Elevator Wraps & Cab Refinishing

The most-seen, most-abused surface in your building — brought back overnight.

3M™ DI-NOC™ film on cab walls, doors, and jambs, installed by 3M-certified crews with the car back in service by morning.

Everyone in the Building Stands in That Box Twice a Day

An elevator cab is the one interior every tenant, guest, and visitor experiences at close range, alone, with nothing else to look at. Scratched stainless, dented panels, and dated laminate register immediately, and they say something about how the building is run that no lobby renovation can undo.

Replacing a cab interior is a major capital project with weeks of downtime for a car that a building genuinely cannot spare. Refinishing with 3M™ DI-NOC™ film achieves the visual result at a fraction of the cost, in a fraction of the time — typically overnight, per car, with the elevator back in service for the morning rush.

C17 Media's 3M-certified crews refinish cab walls, ceilings, doors, jambs, and return panels across office towers, hotels, condominiums, and healthcare facilities throughout the GTA.

What Our Elevator Refinishing Covers

The Benefits of Elevator Film

  • Overnight turnaround, per car — the elevator is out of service for a night, not for weeks.
  • A fraction of cab replacement cost — a maintenance-budget project instead of a capital one.
  • Scratch and scuff resistant — the protective micro-overlay is built for the highest-touch surface in the building.
  • Repairable panel by panel — one damaged wall is re-skinned individually.
  • Hundreds of finishes — including brushed and patinated metals that look like the stainless the cab wishes it still had.
  • No structural work — nothing is removed, nothing is disturbed, and no elevator contractor coordination is required for the finish itself.

Why Buildings Choose Film Over a New Cab

Downtime Is the Real Cost

In a tower with three cars, taking one out for three weeks changes how the whole building feels. One night per car is a scheduling note, not an incident.

Metal Finishes Without Metal Prices

DI-NOC's brushed, hairline, and patinated metal films reproduce the finishes buildings actually want at a materially lower cost than replacement panels.

Consistency Across a Portfolio

Property managers with multiple buildings can bring every cab to one standard on a rolling schedule, funded from operating rather than capital.

Elevator Refinishing FAQs

1How long is the elevator out of service?
Typically one night per car. We schedule the work overnight so the elevator is refinished and back in service before the morning. On a bank of multiple cars, we phase one at a time so the building is never short more than a single elevator - which is usually the difference between a project tenants notice and one they don't.
2How does the cost compare to replacing the cab interior?
Refinishing is a fraction of replacement, which is why it typically comes out of an operating budget rather than requiring a capital request. Cab replacement involves demolition, fabrication, elevator contractor coordination, and extended downtime. Film involves surface prep and installation. For a building that wants the visual result without the capital cycle, it's rarely a close comparison.
3Will it survive the traffic? People are rough with elevators.
That's precisely the environment the material is built for. DI-NOC's protective micro-overlay resists scuffing and marking better than most original cab laminates. For residential and high-traffic buildings, we can add a sacrificial anti-graffiti overlay that gets replaced when marked, leaving the finish underneath untouched — a far cheaper maintenance cycle than refinishing the panel each time.
4Can you match our lobby or building standard?
Usually, yes. The DI-NOC range includes hundreds of wood grains, stone patterns, textiles, and metal finishes, and we bring physical samples on site so you can hold them against your existing lobby materials under the building's actual lighting. Where nothing in the range is close enough, we can custom-print a graphic finish instead.
5Do you refinish the hoistway doors on every floor too?
We can, and we recommend it. Refinishing the cab interior while leaving twelve floors of dated corridor doors untouched makes the mismatch more obvious, not less. The corridor doors are what people see while they're waiting — arguably the more important surface.
6Do we need to involve our elevator maintenance contractor?
For the finish work itself, generally not — we're applying film to surfaces, not touching mechanical or control systems. That said, we coordinate access, lockout, and scheduling with your property management and elevator service provider as a matter of course, because doing this properly means working within the building's existing safety procedures rather than around them.
